Word is that Garrett was Gettleman's plan B if Rhule ghosted him.

    Have fun with that.

I was starting to get cold feet on McDaniels. I did like Eric, but it wasn’t an overly attractive list. This was a good year to make this type of leap.

Also, the Giants OL absolutely loved him:

One year of NFL experience as an assistant offensive line coach, not even the real OL coach, so he will have very few NFL connections. Two good seasons at Temple and one at Baylor isn't enough to get this job, which makes me wonder if his Western Carolina years somehow played a role, like how Will Grier's history in the area got him drafted by the same braintrust. I don't know if Rhule is going to suck or excel, but from what I have read and seen I am extremely pessimistic about this move. This feels like David Tepper trying to show how clever he is.

The first season had some great episodes and some shit episodes, but I think it's going to end up being very good in future seasons now that they don't have to cover so much backstory and exposition. The fight scenes were on-fucking-point.

He tries to build a staff and how successful he is with that will have a lot to do with the team's record over the next three years.
