Wait till you've been married 20 years. It really moves up the list then.

Apples and oranges. Masturbation has absolutely nothing to do with procreation. Masturbation, from a Biblical point of view, is twisting something God intended as a supernatural bonding experience between a man and a woman (which also has the potential for procreation) to a shallow act of self-gratification.

From His 'Sermon on the Mount'...

"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." -Matthew 5:27-8

Genesis 38:8-9 referrs to a man 'spilling his seed' on the ground rather than impregnating a woman, for which God punished him. Some people interpret that as an admonition of masturbation, but I disagree. I understand the key issue of that particular passage to be willful disobedience to a direct instruction from God. In other words, God struck him down because he blew God off (and for selfish reasons), not because he physically masturbated.

Avoiding the question only makes you look more guilty.

See, that is too remote of a connection. Additionally, I find it to be ridiculous. No matter what anyone says, everytime you see an attractive member of the opposite sex, you will have some kind of carnal thoughts about him/her. It's natural, and I believe, impossible to repress. It's too primal, and the very idea of doing so... Now acting on the thoughts, that constitutes self control and I can understand that philosophically.

Wasn't it his sister-in-law? (tangential, but seems like there sure were a lotta people having relations with relations in the Good Book)
