I've honestly never understood the Church's stance on repressing a natural, God-given body function, especially when holding back can darn near drive you mad, lead you to make much worse decisions. Never understood where it came from either. Not much Scripture on the subject.

And yeah, I am fishing for some activity.

Does 'the church' say not to masturbate?

If so, I could make a killing starting a new religion that endorses masturbation as a means of communicating with 'God'.

The act isn't specifically forbidden, no. But what is forbidden (by Jesus Himself) is the mental activity and intentions involved in it. Self-gratification is difficult, if not impossible without lust being involved. And the Biblical concept of sex is all about serving the other person, not the self. It also goes beyond the simple biochemistry of the physical act, and includes almost supernatural aspects of emotion and spirit.

You have to admit hasbeen, that the suppression of the natural desires that we have which allows the continuation of LIFE is contrary to the church's reverence of life in all facets.

I'm not under the impression that Jesus was the one who forbade it either. If you say so, I'll believe it, but I was always under the impression that the only (barely relevant) scripture on the subject was written by Paul or someone else. Somebody mentioned Genesis 38:8, but darned if that makes any sense.

Yeah. I gotta figure of all the potential reasons I'm going to Hell, this is pretty far down the list.
