    Exact same mechanics. Of course, in Gears they are fighting the rachni you set free if you were paragon in ME1.

    got all the loyalty quests done except for the guy you pick up retrieving that friend/foe thing...haven't picked him up yet.

    lost jack's loyalty though, i assume there is a way to get it back at some point.

    scanning for materials is the suck but necessary.

    otherwise, this is a great fuckin game.

    Yeah, the scanning kills me. I keep nodding off while I am doing that, boring.

    Other than that, this game is exceptional, very addicting.

    You don't need Jack's loyalty to complete the game. Once you get Samarra, she can do all the things Jack can do plus carry an assault rifle.

    You don't need anyone's loyalty to beat the game, but it sure as shit helps.
