Valium, Ativan, Xanax, Klonopin and Tranzene are all Rx medication for anxiety. They fall into the class called benzodiazepines which are addictive and commonly abused (and dangerous when mixed with alcohol.)

Marijuana is not addictive, not dangerous when mixed with alcohol and less likely to be abused. The effects of marijuana is a sedating/relaxing effect (the desired effect that benzos produce.)

Another desired effect would be to stimulate the appetite in chemo patients or those suffering from Aids.

Why can't marijuana be marketed and used as an anti-anxiety agent like valium?... or as an appetite stimulate?

Because, that makes way too much sense and the drug companies can't control it so big business can't control it, so government can't control it ie... it's too simple for them to be able to hide behind and confuse 'the man.'

the good folks in Denver, CO are paving the way. they just passed a bill allowing and "adult" to carry up to one ounce w/out getting hassled by the man. of course, the state wont let it happen...but I give them credit for voting it in. :trophy:

Fred....pot is not a chemical contrived in a laboratory. It is a plant. And as such, cannot be r&d'd to death. It grows wild in some places. No drug company could make a large profit off the sale of this product. Therefore, the only money in marijuana is the "crime" it creates.

My sister in New York is being prescribed pot. She has cancer real bad and is going through chemo now. I think she had two sessions already is to do I believe 5 more. Now way back when---when my sister and I smoked together---this girl was funny as hell. She was always on the go, doing something, up and down constently, generly the I cant sit down type of person. Give her some grass she mellowed out and got funny as hell. I often told her she needed to smoke more often because it mellowed out her jumpity nature. Now I talk to her on yahoo and I often catch her smoking her grass. She still is just as funny as she was back when. I feel sorry for her though. She is going through a lot and the grass takes her mind off things for awhile. As for me---Im smoking it again because of my pain and to get away from things for awhile. In my mind set I dont see anything wrong with getting away from reality once in awhile. But thats just my opinion.

I agree. A break from reality keeps us from losing touch with reality.
