    From today's Dispatch...

    Vick options: suspension or gone

Virginia Tech will suspend quarterback Marcus Vick for at least one game of the 2006 season, if he elects to stay at the school, three sources told The Times-Dispatch today.

Vick, the 2005 all-ACC quarterback, wasn't called for a penalty when he stomped on the leg of Louisville's Elvis Dumervil after a second-quarter play in the Hokies' Gator Bowl victory Monday. But the incident was caught on video and drew a strong rebuke from Tech Athletic Director Jim Weaver.

Tech coach Frank Beamer will meet with Vick and his mother Friday in the Tidewater area -- Vick is from Newport News explain two options and offer a third for Vick, the sources said.

    * He can renounce his final year of eligibility and turn pro, something Vick said he wouldn't do in an interview before the Gator Bowl. He would need to declare his intentions to turn pro by Jan. 15

    * He can transfer to a Division I-AA school for the final year of his eligibility. He would be immediately eligible.

    * He can accept a suspension -- likely only one game but maybe more -- at the start of next season with the understanding that one more on-field or off-field incident would result in dismissal from the team.

Two of the sources said Vick may even be required to sit out spring practice, though that hasn't been determined.

Beamer was not available for comment today. Weaver said "there's nothing new to report" and said the next step wouldn't be complete for a couple of days.

"When you discipline your kids," Weaver said, "you talk to them first."

Vick was suspended from school for the fall semester in 2004 after a series of legal troubles and reinstated with the knowledge that further trouble would lead to his dismissal. Earlier in the 2005 season, he was caught making an obscene gesture toward the stands at West Virginia on Oct. 1.

I don't know what happened out there, but it's not Vick's fault. Mora personally told me it's a situation where the whole world is aganst this kid and he is just standing up for hisself. That lineman tackled Vick too hard. His receivers drop too many balls. The defense gave up too many points. The Oline missed some blocks. Now it's off to Mexico with big brother for some young pussy.Yeah down there where we can relax and get some Fuckem, suckem, lickem asshole $2.00.

    It gets even better....

Marcus Vick Arrested, Future as Hokie Unsure

    By Mark Schlabach
    Washington Post Staff Writer
    Friday, January 6, 2006; 1:54 PM

Quarterback Marcus Vick, whose future at Virginia Tech seems in jeopardy for his on-field actions during the Jan. 2 Gator Bowl, also is facing new off-field problems.

Vick, the younger brother of former Tech All-American and current Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, was arrested Dec. 17 in Hampton, Va., and charged with misdemeanor driving on a suspended or revoked driver's license, according to the Virginia Judicial Systems Web site.

The charge was not reported on the state's Web site until yesterday.

Vick, who led the Hokies to a 10-2 record in his first season as a starter, already is under intense criticism for stomping on the leg of Louisville All-American defensive end Elvis Dumervil during Virginia Tech's 35-24 victory on Monday.

Hokies Coach Frank Beamer was scheduled to meet today with Vick and his mother in Suffolk, Va., to discuss his future with the Hokies. According to Virginia Tech sources, Vick would be suspended for at least the Hokies' 2006 opener if he returns to the team.

Vick, 21, missed all of the 2004 season while serving a school-imposed suspension following two separate incidents in which he was charged with crimes while enrolled at Virginia Tech.

In September 2004, Vick pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for giving alcohol to underage girls. In July 2005, Vick was arrested for speeding, and police found marijuana in his car. He pleaded guilty to reckless driving and no contest to possession of marijuana.

When the school announced Vick's semester-long suspension last year, Virginia Tech President Charles M. Steger said if Vick faced additional off-field troubles, "his Virginia Tech career is effectively ended."

It was the summer of '04 if I remember correctly, so whatever age he was then. He didn't go to trial because the girl had passed out and none of Marcus' semen was found on her. He pleaded no contest to contributing to the deliquency of a minor.
