I'm kinda torn. I'd love to see the mailman never get a ring. But, i definitely don't wanna see him with the alltime scoring record. The fact that he's going to a team that doesn't really need him to win a championship makes it better though.

they were talking on espn that if san antonio gets kidd, they have the inside track on morning too. The west just get better and better.

Damn. Matches up well. Spurs still deeper, much deeper. But an in shape Shaq is the great equalizer. Love to see them go at it. The real shame, and what's hurting the NBA, is the weakness of the Eastern conference teams. Western conference finals are the finals. Still this rivalry reminds me of

    Scott
    Kareem
    Worthy
    Green

    Ainge

The Lakers will make the NBA entertaining next year... either everyone will watch to see a team totally dominate and Malone win his first ring... OR they watch the see the Lakers put this much effort in only to implode... oh and if that happens... Kobe will go elsewhere after the year is up... leaving the Lakers in a DEEP rut

    PG - Payton
    SG - Kobe
    SF - Whoever
    PF - Malone
    C - Shaq

That should be a 70 win team easy if the egos don't get in the way.

Throw LeBron in there (even if it is on a shitty team) and there's plenty to watch.

I'm gonna like seeing the Spurs kick their asses anyway. If they get Kidd, they are still the favorites IMO.

I don't understand all of this. Yeah it is great to see guys wanting to win over getting more money, but this is becoming a problem. What is the point of a salary cap if the highest paid players are going to take pay cuts to play with the best teams? This completely throws off the competitive balance that the salary cap should be imposing.

Also from the players’ union side of this, is this a good thing? You take a guy like Payton and he is only going to get paid 4.5 million a year by the Lakers while we was making over 13 mill a year before that. Now when an Andre Miller wants more teams can tell him, please GP arguably the best in the league only makes 4.5 you aren't worth it. Doesn't this screw the other players in the league not only competitively but financially as well?
