John Maine was perfect over 0.2 IP this afternoon in the MLB Futures Game, which the US won 3-2. Very cool.

the best part of it Tf, was that he was actually announced as being from UNC-Charlotte......................not NC Charlotte, UNC, UNCCCCCCCC, Charlotte U, etc.

anyway, we have two rising stars for Major League Baseball representing Charlotte, both Maine and Stanford will most likely be in the starting rotations for Cleveland and Baltimore next year. I could be wrong here but I think with Stanford that makes 6 former Niners to make the big leagues (Stanford, Stu Cole, Chris Haney, Jeff Johnson, Armando Rios, Sean Whiteside) and Maine will make 7 this Sept or next Spring.

btw, it was also cool to see Maine's counterpart, the hitter from the Cincinnati Bearcats, play in the game too, I think he was CUSA POY the same year Maine was Pitcher of the Year, though the announcers missed that.
