    Lutz not offered S. Alabama job -- yet

    Charlotte 49ers men's basketball coach Bobby Lutz said as of Thursday afternoon he had not been offered the head coaching position at South Alabama.

    Lutz, reached on campus, confirmed he visited the South Alabama campus Wednesday but would not comment yet on why he was interested in the job.

    Lutz was on his way to a meeting with his staff and players in which he said he would update them on his trip to Mobile, Ala. Lutz said he had made no decision on whether to accept the position if it were offered.

    According to state law, South Alabama must interview at least three candidates for vacant positions and had not yet completed that process as of Thursday afternoon. However, once the process is complete, Lutz is expected to be offered the position, multiple sources said.
