    why did he say his goal is to finish 4th this season? That irritates the hell out of me. :mad: Kind of embarrassing if you ask me. here is the link, but you have to register.

    He didn't. He said top four. If we finish in the top four, we're back in the tournament, which is a good thing to shoot for.

    I was glad to see he still thinks we have a lot of depth after a week of practice. The big guys must look good.

    I can't imagine any other competitive coach saying publicly he will be happy with 4th. That may be a real goal of his internally, but if you aim for 4th, you will most likely finish 5th or 6th. I just think it sends the wrong message.

    Are you saying that he should expect to finish first regardless? Seems to me that he is being realistic - maybe even optimistic considering what the press thinks of your team.

    Did you read what Huggins said?

    I asked valid question, trying to get your view on things, and that is your response? I honestly care less about how good UNCC is going to be this year, but you seem to be getting upset with Lutz for being honest about his assessment of the team - which again, is more optimistic than the press' assessment, because they voted you in at 6th (not that the press is always accurate in theses votes). Jeez, you're touchy.

    as usual, you are wrong. the 6th estimate was from the CUSA coaches who are probably more accurate. not the press.

    my impression is that we are third. UL and Cincy are 1/2. Regardless, you don't say publicly that 4th is satisfactory. Internally it is fine to accept that, but not to the press. I don't think the coach should always be honest with the press. Now his players know he will be happy with 4th. I won't be happy with 4th. 3rd is acceptable. It is just not a statement I like hearing from a leader. John Fox would never say he would be happy with the 4th NFC seed, though he may in his own mind.

    Well, you sure spend a lot of time in this forum for a guy who doesnt care about us.

    And, FYI, the "press" picks us to finish about 6th every year and we have been one of the best teams in the conference every year.

    Metro, I hear you loud and clear :applause:

    I don't think a program should be satisified with anything less than a championship. If so, you're selling the athletes short.
