    My thought was that she killed a guy, had access to the safety deposit key, and conjured up the bank heist to get to the box, on the hope that something valuable was in there.

    OK, I did not think of it that way. I wonder what she thought was in there. She would have to have a pretty good reason to think something valuable was in there if she went to the lengths that she did to get to the contents.
