I guess they do not have to hit he button any more since Desmond turned the key? Nothing left to push it with now anyway.....

I was kind of dissappointed with it. The stuff with Michale and Jack and company fell just like I thought it would, which kind of sucks. The show will not work with out those three characters so they will have to escape or something early next season. That statue foot was kinda of wild, like a left over prop from Lord of the Rings or something.

I had forgotten that the guy with Desmond was also the military guy that got Saiydeh to torture. Clancy Brown is a good character actor, he was the Kurgan in the first Highlander movie....

    THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

clancy was in hbo's carnivale, too. i had to say that at least twice an episode.

there's no doubt that the three will escape at some point -- or at least, their story-line will continue. perhaps they'll even be released or just wake up and they'll be free. maybe even they'll stumble into camp individually and they'll do a "claire" and have to figure out what went on. the whole next season could be them remembering what happened with the others.

i'm still trying to get my head around the purpose of "the others".

the button is gone, i'm guessing. the shut down switch as a SERIOUS cop-out, it seems to me. i think the button ran its course and they don't want it to be a thing anymore. having an emergency cut-off is kinda weak.

why wouldn't desmond just shut the thing off instead of killing himself? if he was driven to take drastic action, why not the less severe of the drastic actions. worst thing is that he kills himself anyway.

I disagree, I think the countdown had to happen to advance the story. With the disturbance taking place it allowed for the anomly to be noticed by the outside world. Now Desmond's ex-girlfriend knows where to go. I don't think the writers are doing anything on the show that doesn't serve a purpose.

Her connection to the Hanso foundation from what I've read on the web is that her father Witmore owns the company that has backed the Hanso foundation and built the bunkers on the island. Witmore labs was also on Sun's pregency test.

sure, they had to eventually quit pushing the button and the consequences needed to be major or else people would be really upset. but having a "shut off" button seems like an awfully convenient way to make the button consequences much less severe than it ought to have been. and it also makes the whole idea of going crazy pushing the button a bit odd given that you could always just decide to shut it off if you were so desperate to end things.

the others seems really unbothered by the countdown thing. they didn't react at all. they didn't say anything like "well, looks like they finally let the countdown complete" or "what the hell was that?" or "oh my god -- they shut the program down!" nothing. like it didn't even happen.

connections to hanso aren't necessarily nefarious. everything about the shit on this island is connected in multiple ways. is witmore labs a coincidence or a plant? i'm leaning towards the coincidence angle until there's more evidence of control.

    Polar Bears?
There's something on the blacklight map on the blast door that refers to a bear project. The notes are in Latin, I think.

Why did Kate rob a bank to steal a toy airplane?
    Sentimental reasons, I though.

    Black horse hallucination?

Why does the island heal people?
A lot of people believe in magnet therapy for certain ailments. Beyond that, I don't know. But both Locke's and Jin's troubles could be psychological, or caused by emotional distress.

Why was Locke in a Wheel chair?
    (see above)

What really happened to Danielle’s team?
Another good question. I think Danielle is/was a plant. One of the others.

Is “the other” named “Alex” Danielle’s daughter?
    Could be.

What is the story with the black rock?

Why do they take the children?
Could be several reasons, including but not limited to: they're easier to manipulate and control, any special gifts they have have not been repressed as they would later in life.

Does Walt really have special powers?
Sure seems like it, based on Michael's interrogation.

    What is the Monster?
I've been wondering that since Season I. I've still got nothing.

Is their or is their not a “sickness”?
I doubt it. At least nothing out of the ordinary for a South Pacific island (which is still considerable). Mysterious illnesses can be powerful manipulation tools.

What happened to Jacks fathers’ body?
    Shark poop.

Who were the “Adam and Eve” mummies they found in the cave?

What happened to the Black/White theme we had in season 1?

Where did Danielle’s electrical cable go to on the ocean end?
I'm betting the "others" have a base somewhere on an island nearby. It wouldn't surprise me if the cable led there. It also wouldn't be completely out of the question for it to lead to the mainland.

Libby points out that the washer and dryer are newer, is this significant?
Yes. Everything else in the hatch is dated by at least 15 years. Those appliances are within 5 years old, and it's not like something like that could arrive by air drop (probably). They were probably installed during Desmond's 'watch'.

They portray Libby as a mental patient at the end of one episode, significant?
Probably, especially considering her new connection with Desmond.

Who, exactly are Hanso, Candle, and the DeGroots?

Why was Walt speaking backwards, in a vision, to Shannon?
    Hallucination?

What was the point of the Shannon and Boone characters in the overall theme?
    Eye candy.

WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE NUMBERS?
I doubt we'll get the full answer to that question before the series finale.

Did Hurley own the box company that Locke worked for, and if so why didn’t they know each other?
Hurley owned a box company?

How come only Rose realized Locke was in a wheel chair when he got on the plane? Why didn’t she question his sudden ability to walk earlier in the show?
Having a chronic/terminal condition herself, she's probably more aware of other people who have debilitating health problems. Generally speaking, healthy people don't want to acknowledge things like that unless they're forced to. As far as her not questioning his ability to walk, she believes in the island's ability to heal, as she believes it cured her cancer.

    Why did Ethan kidnap Claire?
    For her baby.

    What happened to Cindy?

    What are the whispers?
They're either technology based (hidden audio system) or chemically induced hallucinations. Or both.

What was the significance of the glass eye?

I was wondering the same thing. Desmond knew bad stuff was going to happen. Why didn't he say more?
