okay, so the staff is where clair was.

Pretty cool but I agree with you about the show standing on it's own.

It kind of looks like they might be linked by tunnels but they are blocked off.

"possible CVII - Inactive since accident"
are you thinking thats the part they haven't been to yet?

    also, interesting to me:

"stated goal - repatriation, accelerated de-territorialization of ursus maritimus through gene therapy and extreme climate change"

    ursus maritimus is polar bear.

spencer? you mean desmond? the guy that was there before, right? anybody remember how long he was there? something like a couple years or something, right? my guess is that two of those hatches on the right are either guesses or collapsed. the one at the very top could be the one the tailies found ("arrow" rings a bell -- they did show a symbol in that hatch).

the staff one on the left is definitely where clair was, which means there's one more -- the flame -- that is a running concern. conveniently enough, it's right next to them.

so i dunno if desmond is the guy who put it together. he did seem to know a bit. didn't he ask "are you him?" which keeps with the theme of "him" being in charge or something. interesting that it says "i am here" but whoever was in there couldn't go more than 45 minutes away from the button -- not enough to "explore" the island (as the notes seem to indicate). so maybe it was the other guy that was with desmond. there are what look like dates over the last few years. not sure what those date are, but they might be during desmond's stay so he could have been the author or the guy watching the button. but "i am here" implies that it wasn't a team effort (or it'd be "we are here") so it's a secret map, that's for certain -- even a secret from the other person in the hatch.

yeah, i had the feeling it was something obvious that i should have known. :whoosh:

oh, and it's an octagon. do'h!

i figure everyting in this show is there for a reason so i pay attention to everything. it also helps that i've watched all the episode from season 1 to last night over the course of about 2 weeks. :)
