All generally unapologetic sinners. I can understand why you would want to hang with them.

What makes you think it's "those" Christians that are going to heaven? Are you God?

I am a Christain. I am a sinner. I hang out with sinners. I hang out with gays. I hang out with alcoholics. I am friends with people who cheat on their significant others. I don't know any hookers, but if I did I would hang out with them, too. Just like Jesus did.

Well, according to our founding fathers, "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" ARE basic human rights. I would think that the right to marry the person of your choice would fall right in there . . . and to have them LEGALLY considered your family/next-of-kin, to be eligible to be added to your company health insurance plan, to automatically inherit if you die intestate, and so on, ad infinitum.

Are those basic human rights? Well if not, they SHOULD be.

domestic partner bennies through corporations are becoming more prevalent these days. and as far your other points, there are ways to do those things today. i have all my financial investments going to someone in case i get splattered and i'm not 'married' to her. she's set up with power of attorney for everything i own that's worthwhile. she can also decide to pull the plug and have me cremated as per my wishes. while i don't want to belittle the gay and lesbian crusade for getting their commitments recognized, there are ways to accomplish what they are fighting for.

Rights granted to you by the government are not basic human rights. I think
I know why you and Fred are so unhappy. You don't have a clue about our legal system, government, or even what a basic human right is.

Then who and what is going to define who can be my "next of kin" Can I add my BEST friend to my insurance policy? I mean we are in a realationship. Or do you have to live together. Opening up a whole can of worms.

By the way AK, "life, liberty, etc" came from the Declaration of Independence. I figured you as an atheist would discount that because it mentions God, in fact, it says those rights are granted by our Creator, not the government.

If you really do know the bible then you know why the christians you have been around have condemned your lifestyle preference. Do you think they should ignore parts of the bible so as to allow them to accept it? I am not saying this to attack you but would you really have any respect for them if they did accept homosexuality?

Christians and the church make lots of mistakes. If your primary beef with them is that they wont accept you then your primary beef is that they are holding to their beliefs.
