I don't get what your saying? you want me to use my definition of homosexuality to explain which hand a person uses? (And yes I did forget some people use both) Well I don't think which hand you prefer is genetic? so why would I argue why it is?

hetero with some homo tendencies? Wtf is that? You like women, but you're an interior designer? If you're a hetero with slight homo tendencies, you're bi. I wouldn't say that a person who had hazel eyes really had blue eyes, but they were slightly green.

I agree with you, HB. And I think there are Christians--yourself among them--who take a more enlightened view. But the fact is that the TONE of those Bible accounts are more condemnatory toward women than men. And the "Church" has historically used those accounts to paint women as more naturally "evil" than men, as dangerous to humanity as a whole, as being in need of being controlled by men for the good of all. I know that doesn't come from God, but from men. But that attitude is still prevalent in much of human society, and it really pisses me off. It's been the source of viscious witch-hunts, torture, & lots of evil.

I'd like to see more sincere Christians espouse a more realistic & enlightened view of this. I personally love the pagan view, which honors both masculine & feminine in all beings, & recognizes both aspects of deity (or deities) as well.

I think you are talking about a very small percentage of christians.

How do you feel about the treatment of women in islamic nations?

I think I'm talking about a moderate percentage of modern Christians, worldwide. As for the treatment of women in Islamic nations---incredibly barbaric, almost without exception! Shameful--not for the women, for the men and the religion they supposedly represent.

how about the over-use of question marks -- is that genetic?

so you believe that people decide early on which hand they will favor? what explains the enormous preponderance of right-handed people? dumb luck? if it was a purely social indoctrination, you'd expect that some society somewhere would not have such a skew towards right-handedness. so which society is that?

I do not think that a moderate percentage of christians view women as more evil than men. Certainly the christians I know do not feel this way.

Treatment of women is a failing of Islam that they are rarely called on. I do not understand why they tend to get a free pass from the media on that issue. I think most people do not really know just how bad it is for women in many islamic nations.

You're absolutely right about the treatment of women under Islam. And I agree there should be MUCH more coverage of that & open discussion.

As to Christian attitudes toward women, for the most part--in the U.S., at least--I don't think it's a conscious, purposeful denigration. And I do recognize that there is a trend toward improvement, however slowly. But even among "mainstream" Christians, I still often encounter that underlying attitude/assumption. And I'm sure many of the people I've seen display this attitude would absolutely deny seeing women as "less than" men or more evil than men. It's not something they preach, necessarily--it comes out in subtleties of their words & behavior.

    Preach it sista! :applause:

Thelt, maybe you don't see it, cause it really don't pertain to you because you are a man, you've never really had to deal with it. I have felt the subtleties of their words and behavior for as far back as i can remember. Even since i was a small child.

It hasn't been of till recently that i learned this is of man not of God.
