having to go through learning another offensive system doesn't seem to be a good thing at first glance to me. but i guess, if we're going to do it, better off now before we bring in a new QB, etc. than afterwards

learning a new system shouldn't be a problem - half the personnel will be new. The other half really doesn't have a strong hold on keeping a job. Either way, that's not the concern. To me, it's that Henning expressed a want to stay and yet rumors persist. I hope, if we're giving him an honorable discharge, he takes it rather than staying another year and being fired.

COACH TUNA STARTS TROLLING FOR COACHES

Profootballtalk.com has learned that the new hire of the Dallas Cowboys, Bill "Don't Tell Me I Have A Body Like Babe Ruth" Parcells, might actually have the ability to hire present Carolina offensive coordinator Dan Henning (a long time Parcells confidant and coach) as the 'Boys offensive guy, since Carolina Coach John Fox wants to hire soon-to-be-let go Giants offensive (depending on the way you interpret that word) coordinator Sean Payton, who worked with Fox while both were with the Giants. Stay tuned as we get more info on this story and more hires for Tuna Man's staff.

Yeah, I've thought so too. I thought the same about Harbaugh, and while Peete left the Raiders to come play here, Jim went to the Raiders to be a QB coach. I wonder if that's helped Gannon at all win MVP?

I'm not so sure Henning was the problem now, not sure he wasn't the problem either. What I am sure of is we didn't have the horses on offense. That needs to change. Henning can stay or go, I don't really care. I just find it hard to understand how if he sucks, and he goes to Dallas, I know he'll have success.

    We should seek compensation.

  6. I wish we could pry Norm Chow away from USC, but I don't see that happening since he just accepted a lucrative deal to remain with the Trojans. He chose that instead of the Kentucky head coaching position.

You may recall Chow as the NC State offensive coordinator during Amato's first season. Prior to that, he was the OC at BYU for Lavell Edwards for 20+ years, and it seemed a foregone conclusion Chow would succeed him at BYU, but he didn't. Until he left BYU, he was definitely the Bill Guthridge (before he became coach at UNC) of college football.
