    Never been to Luisa's.
    Sparse - crust loosely mounded up, oiled, sauce over most of it, cheese over most of it, lots of basil, without cookie cutter uniformity.
    You know, real pizza alla margherita. Not the americanized big formed dough, the full coverage toppings, etc.
    Pizza as we know it formed from NYC. Granted, I didn't get down to Naples, which is supposedly the hotbed, but they do supposedly still take things very seriously there.

    And fwiw, pizza upstate NY was always a huge thing. Pizza chains couldn't survive up there for the longest. That, to me, is real pizza. You can get it at some of the indie places around where I live, but I don't know what's going on around Charlotte anymore.

    Is that the place in the corner of the shopping center? If so you've got to be kidding.

    you sure you didnt go into moosehead, or the blockbuster?

    its been a while since I had their pizza, but I remember it being better or at least as good as any other in town. (I usually go to portifino because of location)

    if you think that pizza sucks, you should probably stick with red baron or go to Ci-Ci's

    OK - I thought you were saying sparse as in you can't find much of it in Italy. Which was kinda confusing.

    But yeah, it's not uniform like ours is. I still like it better though.

    Louisa's = too much garlic

    If you go with Portofino's, make sure you do the one on Park Road and not Eastway -- you might as well eat out of the garbage can.
