Getting ready to have a live draft and looking for some do and dont's. Any rules or suggestions would be greatly welcome.

Get 2 rock solid RBs in your first 3 rounds. Get a QB by pick 5

No need unless it's a particularly deep league or starts 2. Aside from Manning, people draft QBs way too early.

I never like to take a QB before 5th round but I get caught up in the best player available and draft depth. Then I get stuck with a Steve McNair, Jon Kitna or Phillip Rivers type of player.

Unless you can get a top QB you should wait until late. There is not that much difference between the seventh best QB and the fifteenth when it comes to FFL. If you go into the fourth round and can get Brady, Brees, Bulger or McNabb then go for it otherwise wait it out and take a couple of guys later and hope one of them is decent. You can always watch for a free agent who is a big surprise to add. Every year some QB comes from nowhere to be good in FFL.
