Pros/cons? Anyone ever taken it? Side effects? I've looked online for stuff, but I also wanted to get some personal experience with it.

I just got put on it and just gave it away to a friend that takes it. He swears by it but I don't think my life is bad enough to be ruled by drugs.
I took one pill and used the bathroom 6 times. That is one of the side affects of starting it but they say you get use to it. There are terrible side affects listed on the site but I bailed quick.

Coops- When Lexapro came out, it was marketed as a "safer variety of Prozac."

It's one of the more popular antidepressants sold today. Most of my patients that are on it voice no side effects.

Day or night depends on you. It is one of those drugs that can be taken either way.

    The key: TAKE IT DAILY!

Thanks for the info guys. Doc put me on it today not mainly for depression/anxiety issues, but sleep ones. I haven't slept for more than 3-5 hours at a time for the past at least month. My body is physically and mentally exhausted. I'm hoping I can even see some sort of effect tonight. This no sleeping is for the birds!

Lexapro will take a few weeks to kick in. But it's not a sleeping pill- you know that, right?

If you are having trouble sleeping, buy you some generic Benadryl and take it a hour before you go to bed.

Yes I know it's not a sleeping pill, but it will help with the issues that are keeping me from sleeping.

Believe me Fred, I've tried everything other than going to the doctor to find a way to sleep. None of the options worked and many left me feeling like I'd be hit with a 2 X 4.

I was on it once and it was not a big deal. It kind of took the edge off of some stuff I was obsessing over at the time but it is not like I was all mellow or laid back all the time. The side effects were minimal. Tom Cruise and the like make way too much out of it.
