While they may be good guys.......this team is clearly in need of an enema. I just hope this helps restore "some" respectability to the team.

    According to the Sporting News........

A major shakeup in the Reds' organization is expected today, and both general manager Jim Bowden and manager Bob Boone are likely to be fired before the team's 12:35 ET game against the Phillies at Great American Ballpark, Sporting News has learned.

The Reds refused to comment on the report.

The Reds (46-58) are in fifth place in the NL Central, 10 1/2 games out of first place in their first season at Great American Ballpark. Their 6.21 rotation ERA ranks last in the NL by a wide margin, and they also lead the NL with 99 errors, 15 more than the next-closest club.

Both Bowden and Boone are in the final years of their contracts. Boone is expected to be replaced by Class AAA manager Dave Miley, though bench coach Ray Knight could manage today's game.

6.21 era!!!!!! wow! I did not know that.

honestly, you could cut every pitcher and bring up your best 13 minor leaguers and they will be better than that.

I think all the errors is harder to fix.

Signs of optimism for the Reds.......

Just watched the press conference with the Reds COO and was left with the feeling that this was much more about dumping Jim Bowden than Bob Boone (even though I think some of Boone's game decisions were suspect).

The COO spoke very professional of Boone to the press, but struggled to speak the same way about Bowden.

Seemed like they want to send a message to the NEW GM that he could have a chance to influence who the Manager will be.

Bowden was in charge for 11+ years and the team was 1 under .500 during that time......good luck Mr. Bowden, hope the door didn't sting too much on the way out, but I will NOT MISS YOU.

On a side note........are there any Mariners fans out here ???

I heard a rumor over the weekend of Jose Guillen going to Seattle for pitching prospect(s) and I was curious if there is anything worthwhile in their minor league system??

i agree with metro on the pitching. thats what the minors are for. give them a shot. hell, what do you have to lose besides a 6.21 era?
