I come from a Land Way Downunder.
I'm interested in this book and have put it on order. I'd heard about it, but during one of those random Google searches, it came up - so I got to reading. Has anyone read it - what did you think? From what I've read of it online, it seems to fit in well with what I believe (about spirit etc) and I can't wait to read some more.

In a nutshell - following a near death experience, Sandra Rogers wrote this book and shared her experiences "in the light". Here are some key points from that experience:

Listen to that small inner voice in your thoughts; it is the voice of God.

Our soul is a part of God and God is a part of us; therefore, our souls are immortal and eternal.

Hardships are necessary for the growth of our soul.

Those born with mental or physical afflictions are more spiritually advanced than others, born to help others evolve spiritually.

The physical body the spirit enters is chosen prior to birth.

If an addiction isn't conquered before your physical death, it could keep your spirit earthbound.

Earth is only one realm of learning; there are many.

Hell is a state of being we create by being away from God until we choose to return to him. It is a state totally devoid of love.

All you do and think is known to God, and God understands everything perfectly, and loves everyone just the same.

All the pain we feel or cause is felt by God.

In order to become one with God, work must be done to remember or find the truth. The truth is this: your true self is a spirit and your spirit is one with God.

Love, being God, is too immense and profound to ever be fully understood or experienced in the physical world.

    The universe is God's cathedral.

God created differences in religion because of the different lessons we all need to learn.

When you do unto others, you do unto God and yourself.

The beginning of all sin is seeing self as separate from others and God.

There are only two true religions - the religion of love and the religion of fear.

Communication in the spiritual world is telepathic. Your thoughts are answered as rapidly as your mind can send and receive them.

When you die, everything you have said, thought, or done will be known by all.

There are no secrets in the afterlife.

Spirits with evil thoughts avoid the light because they are too ashamed to have their life revealed.

Spirits with like thoughts are drawn to each other in the afterlife.

God's paradise for us is love. We can create paradise again if we learn to love one another as ourselves.

There is one God who is worshipped through many different teachings of many different religious faiths.

The gods of one faith are the angels, saints, or supernatural beings of other faiths.

In the search for truth and understanding, all paths lead to love.

God is love, light, and the energy in all. God is the source of perfect love and all life.

God loves and forgives you, and expects you to love and forgive others.

The only thing that lives forever is love.

I'm just curious as to what your thoughts are on reading the above :).

Listen to that small inner voice in your thoughts; it is the voice of God.

my own self-conciousness. I believe it's sometimes smarter than me.

Our soul is a part of God and God is a part of us; therefore, our souls are immortal and eternal.

The soul is just a part of everything. When we die, our material bodies are returned to remake the planet into what we were made from.

Hardships are necessary for the growth of our soul.

Good things happen to bad people. Bad things happen to good people. Hardships come along because of actions not as a teaching tool.

Those born with mental or physical afflictions are more spiritually advanced than others, born to help others evolve spiritually.

Um....my parents tax preparer when I was young had a daughter that was completely mentally and physically deficient. Drooling, in a wheelchair, unable to even sit on her own. I think if she taught anything it was to not stare at people who are different and thank her parents for having the patience to care for her.

The physical body the spirit enters is chosen prior to birth.

I think life begins at the first division of the cell. The body from that point is not the same as either parent so it is a different life. That body has been preprogrammed due to DNA that is unique. So yeah, if you believe in the spirit, I would assume the body has been chosen beforehand.

If an addiction isn't conquered before your physical death, it could keep your spirit earthbound.

Spirits are energies. Additctions are physical and mental. But addictions aren't the only reason some spirits remain close to a person, place, or object.

Earth is only one realm of learning; there are many.

I believe there are different planes of existence.

Hell is a state of being we create by being away from God until we choose to return to him. It is a state totally devoid of love.

Hell was created by religion to keep people from doing things society condemmed as immoral. There are certain actions that are universally accepted as wrong. Even in Islam, murder for an unjust reason can send you to a state of eternal damnation

All you do and think is known to God, and God understands everything perfectly, and loves everyone just the same.

    I dont believe in God.

All the pain we feel or cause is felt by God.

    see above.

In order to become one with God, work must be done to remember or find the truth. The truth is this: your true self is a spirit and your spirit is one with God.

without your body, you can do no harm. So an evil person who dies cannot carry on being evil. I do believe that people who do good things in life are happier than those who are cruel.

Love, being God, is too immense and profound to ever be fully understood or experienced in the physical world.

Tell that to anyone who has ever experienced the kind of love that can lift you up or tear you apart.

    The universe is God's cathedral.

see above again. The universe is a collection of molecules arranged in unique ways.

God created differences in religion because of the different lessons we all need to learn.

People created religions to explain the things science could not. Thunder, the oceans, everything had a god at some point. This was the beginning of science. The Mayans were getting close. Egyptians too. At some point, science and religion split paths. Some followed one, the others followed the other. I think a lot of people who went with religion were afraid of the consequences of not joining.

When you do unto others, you do unto God and yourself.

Your actions against others can affect your own well-being.

The beginning of all sin is seeing self as separate from others and God.

Sin is a word used to stop people from doing "bad" things.

There are only two true religions - the religion of love and the religion of fear.

Religion has both love and fear. Good and evil. The two are co-mingled, not separate.

Communication in the spiritual world is telepathic. Your thoughts are answered as rapidly as your mind can send and receive them.

science has yet to prove that ESP is real. BUT...I do believe that some people are more perceptive than others. Some are more capable of reading the world around them for answers that most of us don't see. It's not supernatural, simply more openminded.

When you die, everything you have said, thought, or done will be known by all.

    Thanks to the internets.

There are no secrets in the afterlife.

only among family members that didnt hate you

Spirits with evil thoughts avoid the light because they are too ashamed to have their life revealed.

I dont think a spirit would be capable of shame or any other emotion.

Spirits with like thoughts are drawn to each other in the afterlife.

positive particle attract negative ones. Why would any other energies behave differently?

God's paradise for us is love. We can create paradise again if we learn to love one another as ourselves.

I wouldnt want people to love me as they love themselves. Few people are happy with their lives.

There is one God who is worshipped through many different teachings of many different religious faiths.

There is good and evil. Call them what you want.

The gods of one faith are the angels, saints, or supernatural beings of other faiths.

    see above.

In the search for truth and understanding, all paths lead to love.

    or hate.

God is love, light, and the energy in all. God is the source of perfect love and all life.

If that helps you explain. It takes faith to believe in the Christian god. I believe there is no single entity blamed or responsible for everything. It just is.

God loves and forgives you, and expects you to love and forgive others.

It's good practice regardless of your religion.

The only thing that lives forever is love.

    and disco.

sometimes it's frustrating when this forum's nothing more than point/counterpoint between believers and non-believers.

More to the point, people who believe as you do, and people who don't believe as you do.

Believers and non-believers of what? Religion at all - or the belief by some that Christ is a saviour?

not specifically as I do, no. But it seems to be the end purpose of this forum. Argue over Christianity v/s Atheism. It's not that I'm bothered by that as much as everything becomes that and there's no other real conversation.

I don't think it directly relates to either. Most here are either Christian or grew up around Christians and despise Christians. It's not Jewish v/s Muslim obviously. But there's just that feeling that you can't say good about one without there being a counterpoint of the bad.

I don't know about others, but I find lots of interesting discussions here.

I enjoy getting lots of viewpoints from others, sharing mine, thinking more about things in different ways.
