    Bought the first book, 'The Bad Beginning', and I'm hooked already. Thanks to whichever of Bunky's boys was reading one of these books at practice that one time.

    'hooked' here means 'intensely interested'.

    good job, math. the baudelaire chronicles have been a top notch fill in whilst we wait for harry potter. and the cool thing is, about the time i get to read #5 potter, #10 lemony will be out(october, i believe).

    if you ever have any questions or need to talk about the books, both potter and snickets, Bunk can go on all about it all day.

    I finished the first book last night. Are any of them more than 200 shorter-than-average pages? It was a very quick read.

    nope, math, they are all about 175-185 pages. indeed, they can be read very quickly. the books tend to follow the same formula, but the joy i get from them is talking about it with my boy.

    About 3 young but very intelligent orphans whose parents' were killed in a fire. Their distant cousin, Count Olaf, wants their massive inherited fortune, which is being held by the bank until the oldest child is 18. They thwart him this time, and he continues to show up in subsequent books.
