I'd say no on Jackson. I've had Joe Horn as my sleeper WR the past two years on my team. Because Jackson sucks(he drops way too many passes) Horn loves it every year.

If I had to pick between the two, I'd go with Sanders. He seems like a Yancy Thigpen type receiver. Pretty slow, yet solid catching the football.

  2. I like Allen. I think that he has been well traveled in the past year with the Rams, Texans, now us, but he's come off as lazy, but I think that he is a good player. He was a 3rd round pick in 2001 and was good at FSU. I think that Allen, will make an impact and stick on the team. I hope that he does. I think that he should take over Kyle's spot when he leaves. And Towns' days are pretty much limited I believe. There were articles earlier talking about Towns being on the hotspot.I gotta think our backup LB's will be Jackson, Witherspoon, and Allen, with Minor as a 3rd string backer.

Well, Kyle's spot is basically long snapper, and I don't think that Allen can do that. With all the linebacker depth problems we had last year, and he barely played.

Allen gets exposed in expansion? OK. He didn't have the best work ethic. OK. He gets cut by an expansion team that used an expansion pic on him? All sorts of bells and whistles going off there. I know Towns has been targeted, but the devil you know.....

I can get down with Darnay. He seems to be somewhat of a posession type again, though, not much different than Jackson but more consistent.

I can't say that Allen will defeat Towns for second string. Inconsequential pickup unless there's an injury, and let's hope there isn't.

No, I don't think he does either. But if he does, great. It's not like we are gambling anything on Allen.

true enough. Just that IMO, Towns has proven a starting-level player where Allen hasn't really done much and can't project outside.
It's all good. Allen would be a decent backup.

allen's problems are that he's topped out and that he's had injuries. he's not rangy like polley, but he was solid.

the receiver prospects are dim. sanders is past his prime, but he's always had great hands. if he can get some wheels for a season, he'd work out. jackson has come up with some good scores for the saints recently. his nickname was touchdown willie with the gators. he was the guy getting open on those broken plays last season, so im not sure about his route-running. i just watched a byu-san diego state game on classic sports with marshall faulk and darnay scott on the same team. scott has alway been a burner. he was the guy opposite pickens running under all those jeff blake bombs for the bengals. scott would be the most interesting of the bunch, i'd think.

Scott's having problems with that leg right now and has sat out of the Bengals mini camps. Tne Bengals are below the cap right now, so the move may have more to do with his injury than his price tag. Got to be careful going after him. Let's see what we have in our rookies first, we don't exactly have a ton of cash to throw around. I'd rather see us snag a better CB first.

Has Mathis (from atlanta) been picked up yet or will he retire? He would be a good band-aid next year.
