...coming to FSU. Press conference Monday @ 1pm. He's down to UNC and FSU, and I'm betting he chooses FSU, because they've been in the hunt longer. Lately it looks like he's been leaning their way. I wish Carolina would get him though, because they could REALLY use him this year.

Actually common sense would dictate that he was bound for UNC. More playing time, national champion, but what scared him away is that UNC is in line to recruit over him in 2006. There are some post players ranked WAY WAY higher than Echefu that are being heavily recruited by UNC, and on the most part they're sharing the love. Of course there's no assurance that they commit to UNC, but there's a darn good chance for a number of them to.

 

I doubt that the possibility of tough competition scared him away. I think he's a top 40 player, he's no scrub.

FSU just did a really good job recruiting him. Like you said, they'd be on him longer and they held onto him. I was still pretty shocked with the decision.
