    Error Message - Smart Failure Predicted On Hard Disk 0, replace your hard drive, Toshiba MK4021GAS-(PM). (found a replacement for $85)

    System will run and boot, but error message pops up before booting.

    nope. Just the hard drive issue. He used it for about a year until the hard drive crashed. He reinstalled XP hoping it was just an error. Now, he gets that message. So he bought a new computer because he doesn't know any better.

    Its actually a pretty good deal. Someone would need to invest in a new hard drive and some more memory, but they could have a hell of a laptop for little money. I just bought one so, while I'd like it I'll have to pass, but I have no problems saying it'd be a decent buy for someone.

    Would be hard to buy it, without knowing for sure just the hard drive is bad.

    If that was all that was wrong for certain, I would be interested.

    all I know is it worked fine until the day the hard drive gave him that message. I believe someone else has contacted him about it though. I got one pm. If not, I'll let you know.
