You can view it as a Catch-22 or you can get off your ass and do something about it.

Being around long term for your kids would be a strong motivator for me. As it is, I found my motivation in being newly single and hot chicks don't dig fat asses. I am now close to being in the best cardiovascular shape of my life. Still need to lose another 20-30lbs but that will come with time, not a short cut.

What happens when you are no longer single and looking for a woman? Do you regain all that weight? I am looking for something permanent. Losing weight for me has been like holding a basketball underwater. I can do it for a while but not forever.

I think my chances this time are better than ever because I am doing it the right way.

Last time I lost a bunch of weight, I did Adkins and that lifestyle is not maintainable.

I am able to allow myself regular treats because I am exercising regularly. Much more easier to stick to that than a diet.

Now I admit, the lapband is permanent. But unless you exercise and eat right you will still have issues like high blood pressure, etc.

I mean come on, 50 lbs in 5 months without paying a cent or going through invasive surgery. Why not give it a try?

I have tried over and over. I am not certain I am going to go through with it but I am going to attend a class to learn more about it.

What kind of work out are you doing? Going to the gym or something else?

Haven't been to the gym in years.

I walk or run 20-25 miles a week.

    3 nights a week I do 150 pushups in 25 rep sets.

One night a week I play basketball.

yea, thelt. that's not the way to go unless it is effecting your health in a serious manner. some people i know that had the gastric procedure done have gained a bunch of weight afterwards. if it's that easy, it can't be good for you

sly's right. get out there and move. the chemicals released in your body do more good things for your body than just weight loss and muscle development. really good stuff happens. google it :daisy:

I am not considering the gastric bypass. That is too radical.

How much do you need to gain? Just eat more and exercise even less. That shouldn't be TOO hard!

that was just an example. i think what you are considering is radical too, especially when there are healthier options that can be made permanent by necessary lifestyle changes

    jmo tho

Looks like I am probably not going to qualify. You have to be big enough not just now but for the past five years and I have been thinner during that time.

I wonder if I can get on one of those doctor supervised diets?
