GOT HIM! Great day for the Hornets!!! FUCK YES! The offseason just went from decent to KILLER!

Now almost done...call everyone about trading Henderson. Call Golden State first and get Barnes and the future of this team is crazy. This team is a contender right now IMO.

I like the $$ and the length of deal. If he gets too crazy get rid of him

This team is not a contender, but they should be safely in the playoffs barring a series of key injuries. Having it be a two year deal with the third as a team option is admittedly nice even though I am not a fan of Lance Stephenson.

There is a definite chance of problems with Lance so I can see why someone would not want him. Heck, PJ too.

He's worth the risk on that deal IMO. To get paid in 3 to 4 yrs he's got to stay straight so he does have incentive.

if the hornets are lucky, he pulls a james harden and thrives in an expanded role as a featured player. depending on the pace the hornets end up playing, he could be a 20-25ppg player. add in 6-7 boards and 5-6 assists... as long as he keeps his head on straight, looks like a great move. i'd be kinda concerned now about other locker room distractions. 1 guy like lance can be dealt with, i think. you get a couple of those dudes on your team and then you got problems.

I hear this a lot about unstable players, but the thing you're forgetting is that these guys aren't unstable by choice. They can't help it, it's just they way they're wired. Stephenson is going to be crazy and do crazy things no matter how much he may want to be normal. It's like Ron Artest. It's only a matter of time before Lance does something else embarrassing, which is why the short contract and third year team option are so great.

    Addition by subtraction.

    Some cut and paste:

Stephenson’s statistics last season – 8.2 points per game, 37 percent shooting from the field and 17 percent shooting from 3-point range – reflected a player who appeared out of place as a Hornet. He was far more effective as an Indiana Pacer, playing off impactful scorers Paul George and David West.
The Hornets are accepting additional payroll responsibility to make this trade happen. Stephenson would have come off the books at the end of next season, assuming the Hornets didn’t pick up his player option. Barnes’ contract expires after next season but Hawes is guaranteed $5.8 million in the 2016-17 season and has a $6 million player option in the 2017-18 season.

Hawes has a somewhat unorthodox skill set, but that could work in the Hornets’ favor. He’s a 7-footer, but offensively he’s better suited to playing along the perimeter. In an eight-season NBA career, playing for Sacramento, Philadelphia, Cleveland and the Clippers – he has made 35 percent of his 3-point attempts.

That could be useful playing power forward with Al Jefferson at center. Coach Steve Clifford needs better 3-point shooting to create spacing for Jefferson to operate low-post in the lane.

“One thing Spencer has done throughout his career is shoot the 3,” Cho said.
