"laid back" rap

I'm in the mood for some of the "laid back" gangsta rap from back in the mid 90's, but I'm having some brain lock on what to download. I'm thinking things like Gin & Juice, Gangsta's Paradise, and Today was a Good day. Everyone's just yelling these days when it comes to rap, not smooth and just chillin like a few years ago.

That stuff is great for cruisin down the highway on a sunny after noon. I need some suggestions.

I liked Notorious BIG's flow. Big Poppa, One More Chance, Juicy are the big ones.
Doggy Dogg had some smooth flow, try Lodi Dodi, Doggy Dogg World, Ain't No Fun, Tha Shiznit.

Ice Cube had a great remix of Good Day, had an R&B vibe to it. Bop Gun is a must.

Big Pun - Don't Wanna Be A Player, So Hard.

Ludacris isn't really yelling, he's fairly funny. Nappy Roots, I can get down with what they're doing...two songs you might like as a beginner are Awww Naw (there's a remix with POD that you should get), Ballin On a Budget, and mmm-kay.

The Roots - putting out some seriously crazy, non-gangsta shit - Next Movement, What They Do, You Got Me.

If you're looking for straight R&B, D'Angelo, Raphael Saddiq, I guess Remy Shand. There are too many decent female R&B contemporaries to really want to list anything.

Jay-Z's Unplugged is killer stuff because it's backed by the Roots' rhythm section and has some Mary J. Blige on a few songs.

Of course you could go all the way back with some Grandmaster Flash + Furious 5, Run DMC, Public Enemy, hell, Whodini, Biz Markie...Doug E. Fresh ... Sugar Hill Gang...:D shit. Now you got me downloading stuff.

Mark, you really just need to get into funk.

Nah, go back to the 80's - Ton Loc. Or perhaps a little Sugar Hill Gang is in order...

You cut me deep, Shrek. You cut me deep.

The second real concert I ever went to was George Clinton in W/S. Good times.

    Thanks for the input.

Ton Loc was a novelty, any of the songs any of us have heard more than once. I already noted Sugar Hill but again, it's not like Apache is on the tips of everyone's tongues.
    Got me downloading Public Enemy.
