Lady Liberty Trades in Some Trappings

    Yes, I personally would consider that idolatry. I would also consider it appropriation of someone else's artwork, though it is common for artists to use symbols--of which the Statue of Liberty is one--to express their artistic views. I would also call it very poor art.

    I'm bothered more by the notion expressed by the pastor that God is the foundation of this our nation.

    Freedom is the foundation of our nation. I certainly hope God wasn't the foundation, considering the attrocities committed against the real Native Americans in the process of the "founding" of this nation.

    People of faith, including Christians, should take action in the political arena based upon their moral and religious values. That's part of a democracy. But respecting one another's freedom is also essential to democracy.

    I am leary of any religious leader who calls himself an apostle and is alive today......

    I see nothing wrong with this. If the actual statue were to be changed to match this I would be worried but this is not offensive to me.
