    Shav's staying in the draft.

Randolph chooses uncertain draft prospects over Duke
    By AARON BEARD
    AP Sports Writer
Shavlik Randolph, a 6-foot-10 junior, has decided to stay in the NBA draft, ending a disappointing three-year stay in Durham marked by injuries and unfulfilled expectations, the school said Tuesday.
Randolph met with members of the Duke coaching staff to inform them of his decision Tuesday, the deadline for underclassmen to remove their name from the draft and return to school provided they had not hired an agent, Duke athletics spokesman Jon Jackson said.
Coach Mike Krzyzewski was unavailable for comment Tuesday, Jackson said.
Randolph's father, Kenny, did not immediately return phone calls for comment.
Randolph's announcement that he was entering the draft raised plenty of eyebrows. He arrived at Duke as a McDonald's All-American and one of the state's highest-profile basketball recruits in 2002, but he averaged just 6.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots in 92 career games.

He can return to school if......ahem......when he is not drafted

Edit: Looks like he has stated that is not an option. Today's deadline was the NBA deadline not an NCAA deadline. A player can petition for reinstatement if they do not get drafted and have not signed with an agent.

Dude, chill, you have a freshman coming in that is 10x the player Shav is. You will be a better team for this.

McRoberts will be far and away better than Shav, but it doesn't hurt to have extra depth down in the post, but with Boateng, and McRoberts coming in I think Duke will be fine. I just like having Randolph for experience, but he was a huge underachiever, but an underachiever can still be a big help off the bench. I don't think Melchionni will have to play as much in the post as he did last year. From what I hear Pocius is kind of like a Dunleavy player (Is Pocius 6-7?). I think we'll be fine without Shav but he's the biggest idiot in the world for thinking that he'll get drafted.

Oh I know all about him. You can really never have enough 6-10 guys, especially considering Duke's record in tourney games when Sheldon gets into foul trouble. I saw McRoberts, I agree Shav wasn't going to get huge minutes this year, doesn't mean he couldn't have been very valuable in the right situation though. However, his "heart" wasn't into it I guess.

edit--Greg Koubek was one of the biggest busts in Duke history, but he played the defensive game of his life against LJ in the Final Four. In a one-and-done you never know who could step up.

Well Greg was the biggest after Shav maybe.
