Seems that with Shaq out of the lineup, Kobe is really showing his ability to lead and take over his team. He put up 52 in 56 minutes with a banged up knee last night in double OT win against the rockets, and is going for another 40+ pt game tonight in utah (has 35 in the 4th). His mid-range is becoming automatic (as jordans was) and the 3pt shot is falling- but the main facet of his game is his ability to create in open space and take it in the lane. The guys showing to be a gamer, and i doubted him beforehand. Any thoughts?

I like Kobe, but I hate the damn Lakers.

What am I talking about, I don't even like the NBA. Might have liked the Hornets better if we had Kobe and different owners.

i noticed a lot of people either like kobe or they hate him, theres no in between. i for one think the guy has really matured and is taking the game seriously and with respect. he sometimes comes off as a jordan-clone, but who wouldnt emulate the greatest player of all time? expect things to change on the lakers: shaqs career is on the downslope, and it looks like kobes gonna bring the "triangle and 2" west to LA.

    edit:

    kobes last 11 game totals:

    40- Phoenix
    38- Sacramento
    42- Utah
    35- Indiana
    46- New York
    42- Denver
    51- Denver
    44- San Antonio
    40- New York
    52- Houston
    40- Utah

    thats 7 straight 40pt + games.

The kid is has been nuts! Can you say Jordan-like, I would say so now. I'm not a Laker fan, or really wasn't a Kobe fan.

If you love basketball, there is noway you can knock his performance as of late...I watched some of the Houston and the first quarter of the Jazz game. My goodness he looked like a freakin Robot out there....Not of this planet.

I thought 11 straight games with 35+ had to be some sort of record. Not even close. Wilt Chamberlin had 33 or 35 straight.

He still has a wall to climb.....

    Who's the Greatest?

Getting tired of being told he's just a scorer and Magic Johnson is a winner, Mike led the Bulls to a sweep of a Western Conference trip with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists. It is a period of 14 games in which he averaged 32.6 points, 10.3 rebounds and 11.9 assists and recorded 11 triple-doubles in the 14 games, twice also while scoring more than 40 points

    From ESPN....

Oscar Robertson averaged an "unofficial" Triple Double for a whole year. Assists weren't an "official" stat back then. Guess he's got two to pass to be the greatest.
