2 sides to every story................Woman upset by party talk, pal says

EAGLE - Kobe Bryant's alleged victim was "almost in tears" after attending a party during which people asked her about the encounter, a friend said Friday.

"Some guys . . . were giving her a hard time," Nicole McDonough, 18, said Friday. "By the end of the night she was almost in tears."

Other reports this week have said the 19-year-old woman was bragging about having sex with Bryant. Steve Evancho, of nearby Gypsum, who reportedly hosted the party, declined to comment.

The woman, "was not bragging about anything," McDonough said.

She had gone to the party days after the sexual assault charge was filed July 18, trying to act like a normal teen, McDonough said. But she had some trepidation.

"She didn't really want to be asked by people" about the Bryant incident, McDonough said.

Bryant has been charged with one count of felony sexual assault. The woman says the incident happened June 30 at the Lodge and Spa at Cordillera, where she worked and Bryant was staying.

Bryant has acknowledged committing adultery but says the sex was consensual.

Another friend, Ashley Scriver, said the woman - whom Scriver has known since the sixth grade - gave Bryant a tour of the hotel about 10 p.m. Scriver said that is normal if requested by a guest. But she did not know how they ended up in Bryant's room.

Scriver did not know how her friend recognized Bryant. According to the Los Angeles Times, Bryant checked in under the alias Javier Rodriguez.

Friends said the woman liked her job and was excited about working the front desk - she liked dealing with people - and the money promised to be good.

"She was really excited about giving him (Bryant) a tour because he was a celebrity," said Scriver, 19. "We don't really see many out here."

But her friend does not have her head in the clouds, Scriver said, stressing that she was a high school honors student.

Friends said they could not give further details on the exact events leading up to the alleged assault. But according to McDonough, who stands by her friend, the woman directly told her own mother, "I've been raped."

Scriver said she talks to her friend about every other day. She's doing well but mostly keeping to herself.

"She stays in hiding, and we try to stay quiet," she said.

McDonough added the woman is being comforted by friends and family, included two older brothers.

"They just call her a lot and make sure she knows they're there for her," McDonough said...................


This story also leads me to believe it was their first time meeting and didn't have past sexual relations.

Personally, I would have no idea what Kobe Bryant looks like off the court and probably couldn't recognize him on court in a different uniform. I could recognize Jordan and Tiger but not the Bryant guy.

 

Thats hard to believe considering how much more popular Shaq is. They were doing alot of talking about Kobe prior to this saying how he wasn't very marketable. His shoes were a failure or something like that. I've never seen him on any commercials that I know of.
