Somewhere around 32 million... I've never understood why they handicap a new team by giving them less salary cap space than the other teams?!?! I can understand not giving them the 1st overall pick, but they should be able to spend as much on bringing in players to make them competetive as soon as possible... it just doesn't make sense at all.

Thanks for the props ant. I've got no REAL problem with Skins fans (that's a lie actually) but this is a Charlotte sports message board spin off last I checked. If you don't like the Bobcats, stay out of the fucking thread. There are a LOT of segments to this message board, if you still hate the NBA, then get out of this one.

Some of us realize that although the NBA isn't the good guy, they aren't the bad guy either. Shinn is. It got ugly, let's try and get over it. True basketball fans should start to get over it by now. I was a HUGE Hornets fan, and it's not the Bobcats fault what happened with the Hornets. Let's just move on.

The Brain, I think the reason for the flattened cap is to try and keep salaries down. I know it doesn't make much sense, but if the Cats saw a Free Agent they absolutely HAD to have (i.e. Kobe), in our first year we could break the bank for that one player and offer him $25 million a year or so. It's stupid, but it's the way it is. I say F competative balance, if some expansion team thinks that's the way they should build, they should let them. BTW, under current rules, we COULD offer Kobe $25 mil, but at the HUGE expense of the rest of our roster.

If we had the full $50 mil cap, we could still fill out our roster with some decent talent while still breaking the bank for Kobe.

I went through the list and put together a list that I thought was possible.

The salary cap is gonna be around 30 million but, it doesn't matter for the expansion draft. If we spend to much it would just handcuff us for free agency this year.

    PG's-
    Troy Bell-(2 years 2.8 million-1.381 next season-team option for year 3.)
6-1, 180 23 yrs. 1st round pick last year with alot of upside.

Juan Dixon-(1 year 1.123 with team option for 2nd year.)
6-3, 164 25 yrs. Former 1st rounder and Maryland star, still young and could be a solid back up PG.

    Sg's-
Alexsandar Pavlovic-(3yrs 4.3 1.191 next season team option yr 3)
6-8 210, 20 yrs. 1st rounder last season for Jazz, started 14 games last season and avg'd 7 pts 3reb 1 ast not bad for a 20 year old rookie. Athletic, young and cheap = Bobcat.

    SF's-
Gerald Wallace-(1yr 1.377) 6-7 215 21 yrs. An athlete that needs minutes and could explode with the right team and system.

Qyntel Woods-(1yr-1.172) 6-8 221 23 yrs. read above and add pothead. If he can get over the weed he could have a bright future.

    PF's
Brian Skinner (2 yrs-3.45, 1.65 next season) 6-9 265 28 yrs started 54 games for the playoff Bucks this season and avg'd 10 pts 7 reb and a block per game. At his price that's a no brainer pick for the Bobcats.

    C's
    Za Za Pachulia (1 yr 620 k) 6-11 240 20 yrs- Right price for a young Center

    Primoz Brezek (1 yr 1.554) 7-1 252 24 yrs- diddo

Jahadi White (1yr 5.884) 6-9 290 28 yrs Will be the starterunless we land Okafor through a trade but, the Suns have to give us a future 1st in order to take him.

There will be more trades but, I think this roster plus drafting RFA to get to the 14 selections needed gives a very good young team and plenty off cap room to sign some free agents to fill the roster.

So far that's 9 players and a salary cap charge of 15.95 if we waive Jahadi he doesn'tcount against the cap and we would have 8 players and a 10 million dollar payroll. That would give us 20 million to sign fa's.

I wouldn't go to a game with this roster....I see your thinking...young and inexpensive, but this team will need leaders....a couple guys that have been in the league and know how to play not to mention help the younger guys gel. The only guys that you listed that have been in the league for more than 5 years are basically nobodies.

I wouldn't mind seeing Nick Van Exel. Exciting, seems to have matured. GS seems to be trying to dump his contract.

    davis or walker

this puts you around 24-27 million depending on davis or walker and then fill in with role players and draft picks....they could compete in our shitty division.
