Both have a mid-round value on Cam. Not even top 10. If that were true on Marty's board, he wouldn't be in the discussion.

The Panthers are panicking over a need at #1 instead of taking the best player available.

Unfortunately, Todd/Mel don't make actual picks. Again....someone explain to me why, if we didn't take Newton, any of the next 10 teams would? Desperation? I could see that.

They probably wouldn't, which is kind of the point. Denver is going to select Dareus about 19 seconds after we take Newton.

Sure. Denver wants Dareus. Then, you have several teams within the top-10 that take him. Look, I'm not his advocate. Just asking the question: if Mel and Todd have him well down the board, why do GM's have him higher? Desperation.

Actually SI had an article suggesting that Cam could slide all the way into the 20s if Carolina doesn't take him.

I respect that, but I would suspect either Buffalo or Arizona would do it.

No chance that Arizona takes Cam, and I doubt that Washington does either. They'd be interested in Gabbert, but not Newton. Buffalo would think about Cam, but I still think they would go defense.

If the team didn't have him rated in the top echelon of the draft, then this would be insane. No professional team would do that. You may disagree with their assessment, that's fine. But I do not believe in "their" minds, they are reaching.

I'll agree that most of the tv pundits who question the pick, as a high first round pick, are guys like Mayock, Kiper, and McShay. Most of the people who ranked him high have been coaches (Reeves, Parcells). I could see that dynamic happening here, and around the league.

I also don't think he'd actually drop out of the top 10. I don't think he makes it past Buffalo.
