what about sodomy? didn't sodom get obliterated because of the "unnatural" sex acts? today, sodomy generally means anal, oral, or bestial sex.

if the bible is strict about outlawing anal sex, then what about lesbians? i mean, aside from toys (which i doubt the bible addresses) they're only going to be having oral sex or mutual masturbation (which you seem to say is also okay for christians). is that wrong? i don't recall the bible saying anything about women laying with women, but i could be wrong.

Here is the verse that explains why Sodom and Gomorrah were obliterated:

The story goes on in chapter 19 to say that God sent two angels in the form of men to Lot's house in Sodom to investigate. That night, the men of Sodom demanded Lot turn the two strangers over so they "could have sex with them" (verse 5). Lot refused, and they broke through the front door. The angels struck the mob blind, got Lot and his family out of the city and God destroyed it.

We don't get specifics on what the people of Sodom and Gomorrah were doing that made them subject to God's wrath, other than the one incident of attempted homosexual gang rape. But based on what we have, I think a legitimate conclusion could be drawn that the mob who tried to force their way into Lot's house that night probably had been terrorizing the city, and at least a few had been praying to God to save them.

Judging by the verses in Romans, I'd be more confident in saying that lesbian sex was unbiblical than saying anal sex was.

it's pretty specific, tho, isn't it? i mean, it was everybody in the city, right? they all came to get lot's friends. i would imagine there were some women in the city, so wouldn't just be a case of men wanting to rape men. altho, in truth, the men were angels. so really, this is more about raping angels. in truth, since they didn't rape the angels, it's more about wanting to rape angels.

is this the first mention of sodom? it seems like they had a history when god visits lot.

i find it interesting that lot is spared and then has children with his daughters.

i've seen some about "trading natural sex for unnatural". i'm not sure what natural and unnatural mean other than with the intent to reproduce vs without the intent to reproduce.

As for Sodom and Gomorrah, God destroyed the city for its excessive wickedness, and the lack of righteous men there. If Lot had been able to find even five righteous men, the city would have benn spared. Ezekiel 16:48-50 explains what the sins of Sodom were. It mentions lots of things, but never does it mention homosexuality.

Ezekiel 16:48-50 -- As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you and your daughters have done. Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

'One good Man'. It sites Sodom and Gommorah. My mom got pissed when she heard me singing it.
