I saw it already, it most resembles the original version. Pretty true to that release. Aeon Flux wasn't bad, despite getting dumped by the critics.
I love getting to see pirated stuff before it hits the theatre! :bananalam

    Saw KK this weekend.

PJ needs an editor, but it was a good movie. The numerous reverential nods to other blockbuster movies were a bit overdone, but I did like the homage to the original - especially the classic movie feel and look. Naomi Watts is simply stunning. I think it's impossible to look away when she's on the screen. Home run casting job there.

If it's worth anything - the Empire State Bldg stuff was so well done that I started to get nauseous - I don't like great heights.

I'll never hold the King Kong story in the same esteem as Jackson though - I understand the point about what is really monstrous and what is really beautiful, but the story seems to suggest "but, for", when there really cannot be a happy ending. Even if they let KK go back on Skull Island, he's be sad and alone. Oh well, just nitpicking.

In the end, the movie fails only when it tries to be too many things. Some critics are probably ripping it for that, but that seems harsh. I'd mark it down as an A-/B+ flick due to those flaws, but not forgetting just how grand it is when it isn't reaching.

    you think?

I know the studios/producers are, but have you read Jackson's gushing over first seeing King Kong? It isn't hard to find. He says it any chance he gets.

no, he's only in it for money too. same with TimTam. fucking bunch of sell-outs anyway. whatever happened to pure artistic expression?

Take sly. He builds stuff out of his own stool and does it solely for creativity's sake. He is a vanishing breed.

Ok, while this may be true, it's not the type of comparison you want to use if you want to get others to see your point.
