oh shit, really? he was the coach of the nets when they didn't have as much talent and kind of overachieved. they got a serious talent upgrade and replaced him with nash. seemed like a raw deal. pretty sure i've seen him on gsw's bench during the playoffs.

i think he's a d'anotni protege with an up tempo mind set, so i'm sure part of the thought process is if they lose at least it'll be entertaining.

He has moved 3 times in 3 years. That and they lost another assistant to another job. I bet they sweetened his contract

 

Yeah. Reading some west coast comments... there were the disparaging "where would rather live" comments. The "he listen to his family" comments. The "money difference" comments. The "he had rather be the head assistant than a head coach" comments.
The commenters just couldn't understand why the other assistant decided to leave such a heaven on earth as San Francisco.

 

mike brown is a good coach. i'm sure he's getting paid to make the move to sacramento. that team has plenty of talent, so it's sort of a coach's dream to get 4 or 5 years to try to mold a team and show your stuff.

i don't think atkinson has been with the warriors long enough to feel like he needs to spread his wings. maybe in a couple years. i'm guessing he'll be the new "associate head coach".
