The Future may not be now. It may be over.

Washington is out indefinately for UT, perhaps the season, and is seeking advice about his concussion/neck trauma.

"UT doctors have sent out Washington's test results to some of the nation's top medical experts. Head and neck injuries are often unique and are viewed on a case-by-case basis."

    sucks for kelley

I've even seen the words "career threatening" associated with this injury.

Definately could lower the bar at WR in the draft. Andre Johnson is good, but I don't see him as an Owens type player.

    Wow.

He's a guy I didn't want, but I did want him in the draft for depth.

I knew something bad was going on with KW. I thought it was agent thing though. That sucks. Well at least he probably has a modeling career or something to fall back on.

  4. Does he have an insurance policy? Seems like the trend today among high professional prospects. This is one of the reasons I don't blame kids for going pro. You can go back for your education but you can't possible make that money back you miss by skipping the draft and taking a gamble of not seeing it next year.

Thats easy to say Piper, but Andre Johnson is talented - whether he is Terrell Owens or not. WR will still be the deepest position in the draft especially if the underclassmen declare as I think they will. That is a shame about Washington though - as he would be one of the guys you would guess could hold up with his size.

    Is this a spinal injury?

They aren't saying. He was originally diagnosed with a concussion, suffered vs Georgia right before the Alabama game after preliminary tests came back, and further test results raised some red flags.

  7. How does his problems compare to what Eric Lindros went through?

if a team has an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick, he'll be worth the gamble if he decides to play. Even if given a clean bill of health, his stock has fallen out of the first round.

I'd just be speculating. Washington said today that there had been some "healing," and he expects to play "someday."

    So its apparently pretty bad.

    So here is Washington's choice:

Declare, hope he can get a clean bill of health, and depend on the combine and workouts that he gets into at least round 2.

Or.....go back, try and have a healthy year and regain his first round status, but risk that something else will happen.

I'd probably go for the first option. A second round signing bonus ain't nothin to sneeze at.
