    IF Smart proves he can read a D a little better and can follow blockers, and Foster survives preseason then it would be wise to keep Smart. His added ST value is a nice plus but I think he has to prove that he can effectively backup Davis and Hicks has had that down cold in the past.

    Hicks was signed before the end of last year if I remember correctly, and could most likely be expendable with our offseason moves. I'd rather see Brown some more as backup if Foster doesn't compete for that spot early. I haven't even heard much about Hicks from camp.

    Yeah, me neither and that surprises me. I thought Hicks was a decent back, and I was excited when we signed him last year. But man, not a peep out of camp on him. That can't be good.
