Bohl has crafted a letter that will read, in part, "This is a sad day in college athletics when a college basketball coach can hire and fire an athletic director."

Hmmmm, it's even sadder when the players and families of players can leverage the firing of a head coach. Damn, why didn't Doh think of that?

    Speaking of symmetry?

Thanks for the lead info DaveW!

This is the same guy that said there were "no problems" between the two of them.

I think Roy is staying at Kansas now. Heels might be looking for a coach for a while now. I don't expect Brown to be the next coach for a number of reasons.

Personally - I think Carolina will end up settling again.

If they don't get Roy or Brown - I'd offer it to the following regardless of chances of getting them:
    Tubby Smith
    Rick Pitino
    Rick Majarus

Then I'd proceed with other candidates.

Oh and Carolina needs to FIRE Baddour asap.

This ought to be good TV! A press conference at (former) AD's home.

Bohl fired as KU athletic director
    News Center staff

    Wednesday, April 9, 2003

Kansas University Chancellor Robert Hemenway is expected to announce Wednesday that Al Bohl will no longer be athletic director at KU. Hemenway is scheduled to hold a news conference at 3:30 p.m. at the the Hadl Auditorium in the Wagnon Student Athlete Center on KU's main campus. Sources said Bohl met with Hemenway Wednesday morning.

At 4:30 p.m., Bohl will host his own news conference at his home to respond to being fired, according to Bohl's wife, Sherry. She said the university would not allow Bohl to make comments on campus.

There has been speculation that Bohl would have to be fired for Roy Williams to stay on as KU's head men's basketball coach and not leave Kansas for the head coaching job at the University of North Carolina.

ESPN's Andy Katz reported Wednesday afternoon that Bohl said "I would not resign" and that Williams had orchestrated his ouster.

Katz also reported that Bohl is expected to say in his statement that the "Kansas basketball coach had the power to crush me or let me fly and he chose to crush me."

Interesting. Bohl used to be the AD at Fresno State before he went to Kansas. Wonder if he'll start poking around my neck of the woods again...

The last paragraph of that article sounds so ludicrous I have a hard time believing it.

"Sources within the Carolina program expect Williams to take the job if offered and said they would be upset if he rejected it a second time. They said Williams feels responsible for the present state of the program after he stayed at Kansas. But Carolina's program is on the verge of returning to the NCAA Tournament and should be ranked in the top 10 next season, so he could be walking back into a Final Four situation instead of rebuilding, which he would have been had he succeeded Bill Guthridge in Chapel Hill three years ago."

Why should he feel responsible for the state of the program? Can't a guy not feel guilty about turning down a job?
