that's plain stoopid. isn't he really chasing a black guy's record? Are we to suppose that once he passes Ruth that all the criticism and suspicion will suddenly dissappear because the only man ahead of him (Aaron) is black.

No, it will die down probably at some point when it comes out that Man Ram thought he was using roids supplied by Condi Rice, but it was really just tap water but that's not what this is about.

Again, I'd like to know what question promted that answer. If he was asked "has roids helped you pass Ruth" or something along those lines, and gave this answer, well yes, that's quality deflecting that would make even vp tear up. But I'd like to know what he was asked.

Also the fact that their are other things that he said that were much more questionable. Like "roids can't help you hit a baseball" and "smoking kills" and "Big Mac hit homers before he looked like a linebacker." Lots of other stuff to talk about that's questionable. So it gives me pause that vp would choose one line about race out of context, and why he'd do that. Why a lot of people do that.

I don't give a damn about Barry. I don't think for a second that all he's ever taken in some freaking lotion and THE CLEAR in 2001, which is all he's admitted to. My eyes can tell me all I need to know.

I also don't think he's the only one.

But at the same time people seem to want to choose their villians. Its hard for me to bash Barry when it seemed an entire generation of black, white, green and orange assholes got supersized in a blink of an eye. He's just the guy who did it and had the most success.

I didn't see the Big Mac quote. And the reason that I posted this was because I find it particularly odious to make it seem like racism is the reason that people are treating him the way that they are.

Because I don't know what he was asked. I've heard the quote and read the article. It implies that he was asked why do you think you are being scrutinized, but that's an odd question, and an odder answer in that form.

What he said, on the surface, are all true statements. I don't know the context of why he gave this answer.

And their is greater scrutiny on him, vs Shefflield or Giambi, because he is approaching 714. Shefflield or Giambi both are one step away from joining the likes of Jose and Cam as retired, admitted steriod users without HOF stats. Of course approaching Ruth has an impact on the media. Ya think if Jeff Kent was implicated in BALCO the same it would get the same treatment?

I didn't see the outrage when Cam came out and said he used.
