leave it to a guy that NEVER posts in the basketball forum to start the weakest thread that has been posted here in a long time.

Just because I think our coach sucks does not mean I will pull for another team. Of course I really do not think he sucks, but he does not in any way deserve the "greatest coach ever" label many UNC lap dogs want to give him.

The thread saying Brown was the best coach ever was the weakest. BTW I was pulling for the Pistons but Brown does not desreve THAT MUCH credit.

I must have missed all the Larry Brown is the greatest coach ever hoopla

Must have been buried in the middle of the last Dean vs. Kkasfdjasdj debate.

Personally I think the USA would stand a better chance if they sent a TEAM to the Olympics.

Send the defending NBA champs - or hell even the NCAA champs. A team and coach that has been playing together for awhile instead of a thrown together at the last minute semi all star team. That is exactly how these guys are plyaing - like it's an all star exhibition game.

Brown is a great coach. Certainly not the best ever and he's not a miracle worker. The days of the USA just throwing a collection of stars on the floor and winning a gold just going through the motions is long over. It doesn't help that most of the NBA is full of players that do nothing but live off their athletic ability and don't bother learning fundamentals or how to shoot a 15 foot jumper or play team defense. And the basketball world is a different place these days. All the foreign players in the NBA shows us that. Many of the European National teams have NBA caliber players on their rosters. Certainly as good as some of the average role players on this US team.

Lamar Odom? Richard Jefferson? Shawn Marion and Carlos Boozer? - give me a break.

Where do these players rank with this team?

    Charles Barkley
    Larry Bird
    Clyde Drexler
    Patrick Ewing
    Earvin Johnson
    Michael Jordan
    Christian Laettner
    Karl Malone
    Chris Mullin
    Scottie Pippen
    David Robinson
    John Stockton

If any of you think we have the talent advantage that we had back then, you are f'in crazy. I am not sure if any of the players from this years team could make this team. Maybe one or two could, beating out Laettner, Pippen or Mullin.

This is who should be playing along with Duncan and Iverson.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- NBA pros representing the United States have never lost an Olympic game. They have never lost an Olympic qualifying game, either. Added up, in both arenas, Team USA is a tidy 50-0.

all-stars are traditionally offensive players. Larry Brown generally excels with strong defensive players up front. He doesn't have the muscle he's generally got, not to mention the guys playing are playing sloppy (and against a style of ball they're not used to playing against).

I thought all these games that are being played right now were just EXHIBITION games.
