not entirely accurate...Hendrick and JR Motorsports COULD end up as partners, but he wouldn't be driving for Hendrick (like Gordon, Mears, Johnson).

We spoke with David Poole last night on the show--said basically, Dale's announcement is that he is done at DEI and will drive someplace else next season.

    DaveW--agreed.

I guess this will stop the redneck earnhardt fans from throwing beer cans since jr will most likely be Hendrick powered.

It might stop them from throwing them at the #24, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them throw them at next year's DEI cars...if there are any.

Why would anyone want to throw beer at cars that wont finish in the top 25? Teresa might want to wear a helmet though. DEI wont sniff a win after this year.

DEI will be a fantastic museum/shrine to Earnhardt Sr. And a lot of empty space beyond that.

You are thinking like a rational race fan..well somewhat anyways. The redneck fans you referred to will throw stuff at a DEI car any chance they get.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. - Dale Earnhardt Jr. has parted ways with DEI, the company his father founded in 1980.

In an 8:30 a.m. ET meeting at DEI on Thursday, Earnhardt and his stepmother Teresa jointly announced that he was moving on at the end of the season. Earnhardt is leaving the only organization he has driven for since entering NASCAR as a Busch driver at 21 in 1996. After winning two NBS titles he graduated full-time to Cup in 2000 with Budweiser as his sponsor. He is currently 12th in the Nextel Cup standings.
Budweiser's contract with DEI expires at the same time as Earnhardt's does. Earnhardt was expected to speak with Anheuser Busch officials at 10:30 a.m. ET this morning.

In December, Earnhardt said he hoped to have his contract completed by May. But as the months passed, Earnhardt added he was free to contact other owners on May 1. As that deadline expired, Earnhardt told FOX Sports on Tuesday, "You'll all know soon what my plans are."

Earnhardt has a press conference scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at JR Motorsports.

    Agreed

    Theresa may merge with RYR

But that will be 2 sinking ships trying to stay afloat

Neither with drivers or sponsors big enought to keep them in the sport past 2 more seasons

So by not giving the kids 51%
Theresa ends up screwing herself L O L
