That doesn't mean we need to throw $45 million at the best end so we can say we solved it, though.

I understand it's frustrating. I don't have concerns about fielding a competitive team this year, with or without a mega-signing.

Is that because of all the changes from this past season??

    As we stand RIGHT now...we're a .500 team +/- a game.

Last year's team was about a .500 team. We lost our starting QB in game 3. What do you think the Pats would have done if they had lost Brady in game 3? How about the Colts if Peyton had gone down in game 3? Jake is not in their class? How about the Bucs without Garcia? How about Seattle without Hasselback?

If we stay healthy at the key positions we will be competitive next season. This is basically the same core team that we had in 2003 and 2005.

Jake is the +/- 1 game. No he isn't in their class.....and when you have one legitimate scoring threat, it's not hard for defenses to plan coverage. And Jake can't pressure the quarterback, improve special teams play, or runblock.

Even if we had Tom Brady...he still has no proven running game, and one scoring threat at reciever.

If by competitive, you mean better than .500....yeah, maybe by a game or 2, but there's no way we can make a championship run with the personnel we have currently.

We sucked pretty bad, though. Only two of our losses were within seven points or less. There wasn't much to feel good about.

Currently we got nothing new to argue about.....we got the same personnel, so we got the same shit to argue about. Hopefully when the season finally comes, we'll at least have something new to disagree about!!

How many seasons have we had when Jake and Smith were both healthy all year and the OL was not decimated?

This team has a big time wide out and a solid running back. It also has a good possesion guy now in Moose. Jake is a top fifteen QB at the least. The defense was solid all year last year even with out much pass rush.

Add a pass rusher and beef up the OL and this team is going to have as good a shot as anyone in the NFC, barring injury.

If Moose can be what he once was....that's helpful.

DW is still a question mark...can he carry the load?? I don't see him as a feature back in a single back system. That's just my opinion, but it is what it is. I hope he has a huge season, I just don't see it. We need our offense to stay on the field, and I question his ability to do that.

The defense gave up a lot of points last year, and one member of that core group is gone, another is long in the tooth, and yet another apparently has some form of 'icky-licky-titus' and can now be blocked by a tight-end alone.

We're not the best team in the NFC....we're not even the best team in our division.
