    Goings also has a 3.7 YPC and has some serious concussion problems.

    He's a solid combo back, but not necessarily someone I want getting 8+ touches a game.

    There will be more guys to come available. Some of those guys will hang around a long time and their price tag will go down. I am not worried about our ability to find a decent back up. Goings is fine if he can stay healthy but that is a question mark. Hoover can also carry the ball pretty well for a fullback. Worst case scenario we just give him the extra carries necessary to keep DW rested. We could always put Rosario at full back in that set.

    There is a common thread to all the personnell and gameplanning the Panthers do...it shows in their game, it shows in their play and it shows in their front office decisions. "Good enough", 'decent', 'not bad', 'OK', 'pretty well'.

    We expect mediocrity to take us to the big game. As long as that's what we shoot for, that's what we'll be.

    Although we do have a GREAT long-snapper.

    Jones has proven he is not a feature back if you cant run behind the line in D = league minimum
    Smith could not carry the load in Baltimore when others were out= not much
    chatman= back up
    Dunn is a class act that would be another good locker room guy for his leadership but how much is left in the tank would be a question. I would take him for an average 13 year vet contract .
    Richardson = we got him in hoover

    I do think Nick Goings is in camp and could be a Anthony Johnson type back if given the chance. Word out of the fort Richardson is that they would like to return to a ground and pound type offense so his could be the man.

    We are talking about a back up running back. "good enough" is what you hope for. DW is our player who might be great. You are not going to get "great" right now anyway. The players who have been available are not great players. They are just guys who are the best available at the moment. If Ladanian Tomlinson or Peyton Manning were out there as free agents then sure throw a wad of cash at them.

    You confuse being conservative with a ho-hum hope it works, maybe, attitude and that is just not the case. Jerry has never been afraid to open the purse strings and we've signed high profile guys in the past when we've thought we needed to such as Mike Whale, Ken Lucas, Keyshawn, etc. It's a fine line and true for all 32 teams. You stay healthy and execute and you put yourself in a position to win. As we say with the Giants horrible start to superbowl, there is not a huge difference between worst and first.

    When this team is healthy it is a contender. It has not been healthy the last two years.

    nicky is a good ding away from taking a year off, which, you know, would maybe convince him to stop shaving his eyebrows.
