I was waiting for Metro to post this, but Stanford got his first career win last night.

He was also one of 30 players invited to Arizona to play for the Pan-Am team.

On an unrelated note, John Maine was named the 11th best prospect in the Sally league this season.

A nice year for Niner baseball alum.

don't forget about Jason Stanford, who also got his 1st win last night.

    :) :) :) :)

    also, don't forget this tidbit.

John Maine, who was named the Jim Palmer Minor League Pitcher of the Year, combined to go 13-4 with a 2.27 ERA in 26 games for Single-A Delmarva and Single-A Frederick. Maine struck out 185 batters and walked only 38 batters.

Maine has emerged as one of the organization's top pitching prospects. The sixth-round pick in 2002 is expected to begin next season with Double-A Bowie.

    PLUS

he was the #7 prospect in the Carolina League this season.

    7. John Maine, rhp, Frederick Keys (Orioles)

After carving up the low Class A South Atlantic League, Maine made a bigger splash in his second CL start. He no-hit Winston-Salem in the second game of a doubleheader, one of his eight quality starts in 12 outings for Frederick.

It's hard to believe this is the same pitcher who had a 5.61 ERA in his final season at UNC Charlotte in 2002. Since signing as a sixth-round pick, he has gone 15-6, 2.08, numbers more indicative of his stuff. He throws in the low 90s, and a scout who saw him in the SAL said his slider looked tighter after his promotion. His changeup also has improved.

    Frederick 6-1 3.07 12 70.1 48 27 24 20 77

tin, easy to see why you called him John Stanford. Of our two best prospects you got a first name and a last name of each. :D Dont forget about Jason Maine. :p

I saw Sat. that Jason Stanford got his first win. I just was slammed all weekend painting, golfing, and going to the Panthers game and didn't get a chance to log on here.

86, thanks for the update, I was wondering what post season awards Maine would win. Where are you getting your info? minorleague baseball.com or are you subscribing to Baseball America.com????
