I just heard that John Metaparrel is doing the EMERALD BOWL game for BC . . . He was known as 'Flashboy' during his days at WFNZ a decade ago. He also called UNC-Charlotte hoops games with Dave Jagelar (now Nationals PbP voice) . . . He left here about 10 years ago and went to WEEI in Bahston to work on their morning show (Dennis & Callahan). He was the voice of Harvard football/hoops just a few years ago . . . Glad to see he's doing well :) !!!

Ummm... He's the play-by-play guy for BC. Has been for a few years now (after doing Ithica games previously after leaving the Charlotte market.) He did play-by-play for Wingate University for two seasons while he was in Charlotte (97 & 98). I ran into him twice this season when I was calling ACC games on the occasions that I had a BC game (in Boston vs. Wake and on the road at Virginia)

That was a solid lineup they had back in the late 90s . . . If they had gotten up to 50k watts, they could've been one of the best sporttalk stations in the country . . But the suits in NYC seem satisfied with FNZ being a good, but not great, sportstalk station :( :( . . . . . Its a shame that they are the Charlotte affiliate for TARHEELS football/hoops and flagship radio for the Bobcats but you can't hear them outside of the city limits !!!!!
