"Just to be clear, your choice to disregard kshead's opinion on this, or any other topic is perfectly fine. That's what the "ignore" feature is for. What I'm saying is that it is your opinion, and therefore is not necessarily true for anyone else. This is not a Christians only forum. It's open to all faiths, and all points of view are welcome here, as long as they don't attack or ridicule another poster or belief system"

I know this is not a christian only forum. I know that it is open to all points of view and faiths..I have not attacked anyone's belief system...nor have I "attacked or ridiculed" another poster. ...I simply looked at KS's prior posts and they spoke volumes to me about where he was coming from, and I stated that his opinion carried little weight as far as judging a christian ministry. If that is WRONG in your eyes, so be it.

It's odd you would say that when you just referenced a rather positive one. And to think, you got it for free without the $10 entry fee. While I’m at it…. if I had cursed like a sailor in that post, would it make what I said any less true?

Sorry, I don't believe in the prosperity gospel folks. I'm also not one to sugarcoat like the others in this thread. Especially since I think it's sugarcoating that is the problem with Mr. Osteen to begin with. I know it's made you terribly angry that I’ve criticized the guy – and I’m sorry I don’t meet your standards of someone who is given the right to do that - but I suspect I’m not alone in preferring a little fire and brimstone from, say, a good Baptist preacher with my sermons as opposed to Joel’s approach. Several others have commented along those lines as well. Read their posts if you won’t take my word for it. I’m pretty sure they don’t cuss too much either.

Thanks HB. I appreciate your comments a great deal.

Well I guess I will try my best to publicly live up to your standards from now on if it will make you happy instead of sad. I mean, since you can't know my heart.

Osteen is another in a long line of pop preachers. Sugar for the masses with little nutrtition. Take a little Oral Roberts, mix in a dash of Jim Bakker, a smidgen of prosperity gospel and pinch of Tony Robbins' self help psychobabble and you have Joel Osteen. Religious pabulum for the new century of TV friendly Dr. Phil fans.

If it helps some people, good for them and good for him but it is what it is.

I've been a christian for over 30 years, and yes, his message is pure, he asks for no money on TV, and I don't believe his ministry is anything like Jim Baker, who begged for money over TV for his own selfish motives, nor Oral Roberts, who took advantage of poor sick people claiming the gift of healing.

Joel Osteen takes no salary from the church, and does not ask for money over the TV...read prior posts where his interviews were pasted into this forum.

I agree. If you take the religion out of it, which from what I have seen, is mentioned very little, you have Dr. Phil.

Perhaps if you watch it a little more with your wife, you too will begin to see it for what it really is..a strong spiritual message that you can use in your everyday life, of work and relationships.

I think you would get more help from it, than Martha Stewart's flower arranging show...(which you once posted that you were watching)

    Maybe that's why.

Do you know if they take a love offering during their services?
