JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE IN Houston Friday!!

I just saw an ad for it on ABC . . . Jimmy Kimmel is doing the show from somebodies house in Houston Friday. Man that's cool . .

Yeah why is that? It's on here but when I go back home during semester breaks or something, it's not on in charlotte..

 

When his show was announced in Summer 2002 (to replace POLITICALLY INCORRECT w/Bill Maher) all ABC stations had to adjust their late night lineup (most stations at this point had already made their broadcast plans for the upcoming season; airing court shows, ASK RITA, etc.). Most stations made the adjustment, but if I remember correctly, the COX owned TV stations (in Orlando, Charlotte, etc.) as well as other ABC outlets decided not to carry the show. They are crying because they are losing a precious 30 mins. of late night ad revenue by airing JIMMY vs. their own (syndicated) shows. So obviously, COX TV and ABC still haven't resolved their dispute, thus JIMMY still isn't on in Charlotte !!!!

From what I heard, JIMMY is doing fairly well in the ratings. I don't see why WSOC couldn't push back RITA & DIVORCE COURT an hour and preempt WORLD NEWS NOW (ABC's Overnight Show) by an extra hour. But who knows, the station manager for WSOC is probably a lady who didn't like his antics on the MAN SHOW, thus is her time for a little payback . . .

 

Actually, the decision not to air Jimmy Kimmel is coming from higher up the Cox ladder than WSOC's general manager. But in their defense, ABC handled the transition from Politically Incorrect to Jimmy Kimmel very poorly, which pissed a lot of ABC affiliates off. Some of the other stations have come around, but I wouldn't plan on seeing it in Charlotte any time soon.

 

I dont see why they'd show divorce court over Jimmy kimmel. If she is a woman that hated the man show antics, why would showing a show about divorces be any better? When I saw it was on, I just changed the channel. It can't be from a vendetta since they'll be losing ad revenue and ratings from having shittier shows on.

 

WSOC-TV is part of the ABC TV Network . . . They should make it a priority to air live network programming . . . Its silly to be one of the few stations they aren't airing the show. I think a similar thing was happening with LATE NIGHT on CBS at the beginning; Remember how Dave use to say [adlib] 'Tonight's TOP 10 LIST from Sioux Falls, SD . . .'? He was singling out the lone CBS station that wasn't airing the show live!!!! If its not a local decision, that's fine. I guess i need to vent my spleen higher up the corporate ladder !!!!!!!
