Sly, exactly where are the democrats legislating mandatory charity (wonderful oxymoron)?

I am expecting some windbag answer about government assistance programs from the partisan mouthpiece. You might as well just set your repsonse up on a tee Sly, 'cause I will boot it right back through the uprights.

Dude, you are the one who said he agreed with Ecilam who said Jesus would prefer the Dems because of the republicans poor record on assisting the poor. You backtracking now?

Heck no. But as usual, you're rolling up your assumptions where they suit you.

I'm all for teaching a man to fish, and I support government programs that do. FDR's New Deal was a great example, although it was not across the board successful. I'm not crazy about fishing for the person forever though, so I don't support programs that do that.

No one political party has made charity compulsory. There are tax incentives to do so (social manipulation), and the government has taken on the burden of administering large scale programs because that is traditionally seen as a function of govt. I'm not always crazy about how effective the bureuacracy is though. Big gov't concerns me.

In any case, the Dems have traditionally backed government assistance programs and tax deduction/credit based funding for the programs. Moreso than the Pubs. Thus they have a better record without making it compulsory.

A government assistance program is by definition compulsory until they have a check box on a tax form that says do you want your money to go here and only use the funds from those that check yes.

    ummm... no its not.

If it is funded and budgeted by tax incentives, it is not compulsory.

And I should clarify - the dollars spent directly out of the federal budget are allocated based on an electoral mandate. I vote either directly via a referendum or indirectly by appointing an official who votes on program funding for me. It's not a perfect system, it is a compromise due to the scale of our population. And in any case, the Dems aren't responsible for its flaws.

So, in this case the majority of the electorate mandates charity for those who oppose it being mandated? Sounds like you agree with me. I'm glad.

No, I do not agree with you. It is not compulsory. You blame the Dems for the flaws in the system, when really it sounds like your beef is with democracy. Time for you to move out of the country. Maybe you'll like it better in a Totalitarian state?

Which party supports those programs? You blame the Republicans for being pro-life. If that were to pass would you then blame democracy? Sounds like you are talking out of both sides of the ole piehole.
